Do you have a clear understanding of why you are in this business? And please, don’t tell me you’re in it for the money. There are thousands of ways for you to earn a living. If you’re just in this business to make a living, you probably aren’t making much of a life.
What is it that keeps you going? The promotional products business can be very rewarding, not only financially, but emotionally. For me, it was about several factors—creativity, relationships, variety and the continuous learning and personal growth.
In solving customer problems, I was often forced to take several steps out to the very edge of my own comfort zone and had to bring others along with me out there. I discovered that I loved that thrill.
Focus on what you love doing as you solve problems for your clients. Revel in the thrill of creating something where nothing had been before. Be thankful for every new relationship and make those relationships about really caring and being fully available for your friends who happen to buy from you. Get beyond the transaction and put your heart into it. Take a few moments every morning before you start your day and feel gratitude for the fact that you will get to experience new opportunities, new challenges and something different than you did the day before.
Enjoy learning new skills and challenge yourself to step out right to the edge of your comfort zone. Risk falling down. You can get back up. Risk being authentic. Risk showing the world who you are and what you stand for. Live your Why!
